Every washing machine has an important device called a pressure switch.
This is a sensor that monitors the level of water poured into the drum and reports electronic module technology about its quantity at each stage of washing.
Modern washing machines are equipped with sensors that are responsible not only for the water level, but also monitor the amount of laundry loaded.
Washing machine pressure switch
The pressure switch device of the washing machine looks like a disk with an air chamber located inside, equipped with wires and a tube, the second end of which is located in the tank of washing equipment.
The incoming liquid increases the air pressure both in the tube and in the pressure switch chamber.
In this regard, a rod rises, which presses on the contact plate under the spring. This continues until a certain amount of liquid is reached.
Then the electrical circuit of the input lamellas of the relay is closed due to the switching of the spring plate to the upper position.
When the water drains, the pressure decreases and the stem creeps down, which causes the relay to switch already down, and the electrical circuit breaks. The module then transmits information and commands to the pump, heater, intake valve and engine.
Signs of a malfunctioning pressure switch
If there is a problem with the water level sensor, you can visually determine them by the following indicators:
- uncontrollable (a lot or a little) set of water into the tank or vice versa drain, this threatens to flood the premises;
- characteristic the smell of burning;
- weak spin of linen or general refusal of washing machines to perform this function;
- equipment, even in the absence of water, can turn on the water heating and start washing, which usually leads to overheating and combustion of the heating element.
Self-diagnosis of the pressure switch performance

Remove the top cover of the equipment by sliding it back. To do this, unscrew the bolts on the rear panel.- The pressure switch in the washing machine is attached to the side wall and is held on by screws. When examining a detail special attention should be paid to the tube. If there are signs of oxidation or dirt on the connectors, be sure to clean them.

To do this, a small hose, about 10 cm, is put on the inlet fitting and blown into it, while the unit must be brought to the ear and listen to whether there will be a click when the pressure sensor is triggered on the self-returning contacts. The number of clicks depends on the version of the pressure switch.
If this number is zero, the sensor is inoperative.
A more reliable way to check is to use an ohmmeter. It connects to the block connector in the sockets. The device will show data that, when the circuit is closed or opened, will differ from each other.

Because repairing the pressure switch of a washing machine is a pointless undertaking. When disassembling its body, as a rule, internal parts break.
What sensor should I buy? Exactly the same. The same model, the same type and name, with the same characteristics, focused on the volume of the loading drum and the model of the washing machine.
Original parts will fit exactly, you don’t need to rack your brains with them and their service life is much longer and better.
Before installing it, it would be good to check for operability and if everything is in order, install in place of the old pressure switch.
