If the drain system is broken in your design, then it needs to be repaired and urgently, namely, the pump that was used for draining needs to be replaced.
As the best option, we recommend that you trust masters about this question. However, if repairs are urgently needed, then you can do it yourself. If you are not from that group of people who take their washing machine to the service for every minor breakdown, then we will tell you and figure out together how to repair and replace the drain pump yourself.
The location of the pump in the washing unit and how to get to it
Basically, all the elements of the washer are at the bottom, and the pump is no exception.
The pump in the washing design can be located in completely different places, depending on which model of washing machine and its manufacturer.
To access the main elements of the washing machine, you need to follow three steps:
- To get started, turn off the power to your assistant by simply removing the plug from the outlet;
- Turn the structure on its side (it is necessary that the drain be at the top);
- Unscrew and detach the bottom cover.
When you have taken all the necessary steps, then you have the opportunity to consider all the main parts and dismantle them.
In such washing designs from manufacturing companies Electrolux and Zanussi everything is very easy and simple.
And in order to get full access to the main elements of the washing machine, you just need to open the back panel.
And when it is removed, it will be enough just to move the structure away from the wall, since a particularly large space is not required when repairing such models.
The most hard-to-reach models are from companies Indesit, Siemens and Bosch. In washing machines from these manufacturers, all important elements are located under the front cover.
And for cleaning or repairing such a unit, first you need to remove the loading hatch, which is very difficult if you don’t know how to do it.

Replacing the pump in the drain system of the washing machine from LG
We will provide you with the following procedure when disassembling the washing assistant from LG, if you decide not to waste time and money on specialists, but wanted to make a replacement with their own hands.
To replace the drain pump in the washing machine from LG, first you need to open the back panel.
- First you need to pour out all the water from tank washing machines and turn off the water supply;
- For your own convenience, it would be best to place the washing machine on its side, after laying unnecessary floor rags on the floor so as not to stain the structure;
In new modern models, in order to open the back panel, you need to remove it with one click, which is not the case with older washing machines, in which the panel must be unscrewed;- Disconnect the pump from the housing. The bolts on which it rests are located on the outside, not far from the drain valve;
Push and pull the pump towards you;- Disconnect all wires going to the pump;
- Drain the water from the pump (if any), and then loosen the clamps holding the drain hose;
- We remove the nozzles and hoses, and rid them of water;
- If the snail is in good condition, then it does not make sense to replace it. We install an old snail into the new pump (in order to remove the snail from the old pump, you need to unscrew the bolts that hold this snail);
- We fasten an old reliable snail to a brand new pump and assemble everything in the reverse order. First you need to screw the pump to the snail, and then connect the pipes, hoses and wires.
As you can already see, the repair is quite simple and does not require much effort, however, in case of serious problems, we advise you to contact the service center.
