The Japanese way to wash kitchen towels (with mustard and oil) and 10 more products to remove stainsEvery housewife knows how quickly towels get dirty in the kitchen and how difficult it is to wash them afterwards. As a rule, ordinary washing does not cope with stains of fat, berries and other products that are present in the kitchen in large quantities. In addition, most bleaches and strong cleaners are very allergenic, which is becoming more and more relevant now. In such cases, alternative cleaning methods come to the rescue, such as: the “Japanese” way of washing kitchen towels with mustard and oil, soaking with laundry soap, soda, salt, and many others.

General information

NOTE: In order for towels to retain their appearance longer, purchase products made from natural cotton fabrics. Terry towels dry longer and bacteria multiply in them.

Let us consider in more detail the recipes for washing towels and any other linen.

Details

The "Japanese" method of washing with vegetable oil has several options.

1) With vegetable oil and mustard: dissolve two tablespoons of dry mustard, two tablespoons of sunflower oil and one tablespoon of vinegar in 20 liters of hot water.Soak dry towels or other linen in the prepared solution for 12 hours. It is recommended to cover the laundry with a lid so that it cools down more slowly.

Next, the laundry should be rinsed at least 4 times, alternating cold and hot water.

2) With bleach and powder: in a bucket of hot water, dissolve two tablespoons of bleach, two tablespoons of sunflower oil, one glass of non-foaming washing powder. Dirty towels are immersed in this solution and soaked for 12 hours, also covered with a lid.

Important: use bleach for colored or white fabrics suitable for your products.

In general, soaking is a great way to clean old stains without boiling, there are a large number of solution options.

1) Washing powder with soda. For five liters of hot water, you need five tablespoons of soda and the same amount of washing powder. Laundry should be soaked for 8 hours. Washing powder eats away dirty stains, and baking soda will get rid of unpleasant odors.

2) A salt solution works just as well on tough stains. The recipe is simple for one liter of cool water - a tablespoon of salt. You can soak the laundry overnight, and then rinse thoroughly.

Attention: do not boil kitchen towels in water with vegetable oils, because of this the fabric of the product becomes thinner and quickly becomes unusable!

Grate laundry soap and prepare a soap solution from it3) A very popular method is soaking in a solution with a chlorine-containing substance such as Domestos, Whiteness, etc. But here it is possible to wash only white fabrics, this method is not suitable for colored ones.

4) Rub the laundry soap and make a soapy solution out of it, or just rub the towels heavily with it. Soak in a weak, slightly pink solution of potassium permanganate overnight.Potassium permanganate perfectly disinfects things and relieves them of an unpleasant smell.

5) Mustard solution. Mustard powder is diluted in boiling water in the proportion of 1 tablespoon per 1 liter of water. If you want to take out the gray color and bleach the towels, then the solution should be made more saturated, a pack of mustard in 5 liters of water. All you need to mix thoroughly and strain from lumps. The laundry should be soaked for 2 to 12 hours, depending on the degree of soiling.

This is interesting: Mustard is not only a solvent for fatty acids, but also an excellent disinfectant.

6) Fresh greasy stains are poured with dishwashing detergents, such as Fairy, and left to soak overnight, then washed as usual, after rinsing from the foam

do not boil kitchen towels in water with vegetable oils7) Excellent solvents for old stains - citric acid and hydrogen peroxide. You should prepare a solution using one of these products, and fill the stains with it for two to three hours. After that, soak for half an hour in washing powder and wash in the usual way.

8) Ammonia works well with complex coffee stains. The solution is made 1:1, it is poured only on the stain and kept for about an hour. After that, soak for half an hour in a powder solution and wash.

Please note: Use ammonia only in a well-ventilated room or outdoors!

If none of the above methods has coped with dirt and stains, boiling will help. This is one of the very first options for bleaching linen, which was used by our grandmothers.

You need to boil the laundry in an enameled dish that is not intended for food. Usually use solutions with bleach or washing powder.

They also use a bar of grated laundry soap mixed with baking soda, in the proportion of half a bar to five tablespoons of soda.

With all the richness of the choice of ways to wash, you will not choose the best one until you try. Dare, and perhaps you will invent your own exclusive method!
